I have completely fallen off the Blogging sphere and am having a hard time getting back on. It has been almost five months since the last time I posted. I really have not seen a lot of good movies since then; I think this is part of my demise; but I think I am going to try to start posting more often again.
I will begin with the movie that help prompt me to ask my girlfriend to marry me.
PS: I love you
I have to begin with letting you know that I was dragged to this movie; kicking and screaming. I had no want or desire to see this movie at all. To be completely honest, Mandy was supposed to go see this with one of her friends while I went to go pick up her engagement ring, but that is a whole other story.
The movie stars the Million Dollar Baby herself, Hilary Swank. I thought she did an excellent job in Million Dollar Baby, and she really continues to shine in this film too. The film is kind of an emotional roller coaster al the way through. You get a good glimpse of whats to come within the first five minutes between Swank and Gerard Butler (playing her husband) while they are having a fight. The fight last for seems like forever; starts off with Swank yelling because something Butler told her mom, Butler laughing all the while finally comes to the rescue, Swank yells some more, and finally Butler ends it all with some humor and a funny strip tease.
The rest of the movie follows that lead, except Butler is dead and is writing letters from before he dies. Oh, if you have not seen any previews for the movie; Swank's husband is dead (after that first scene of course) but before his death writes his wife a few letters to help her get over his passing. It is kind of a fun scavenger hunt, but the prize for every find is a good cry. I am not exaggerating here either; after every letter the husband sent Swank the entire theater was sobbing.
All in all I really liked the movie even though Butler didn't yell out "THIS IS SPARTA!". The movie was easy to follow, but hard to see what was going to happen at the end. For me that makes for an entertaining two hours.
In case any of you are wondering about the proposal; she said yes and I did get the ring before we watched this movie. If anyone is interested in how I did it; her side of the story can be found here.
